Busan Extends Rewards to Returning Visitors From Asia
The Busan Tourism Organization launches a loyalty program offering Busan Pay incentives to travelers from Taiwan, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
Busan, South Korea's major port city on the southeastern coast, is rolling out a new incentive structure designed to encourage repeat visits from key Asian markets. The Busan Tourism Organization will introduce the 2026 Revisit Busan Pass Promotion, a program offering Busan Pay rewards to international tourists who return to the city.
The initiative represents a deliberate shift in marketing strategy, targeting travelers from Taiwan, Japan, and Southeast Asia—regions that have demonstrated sustained interest in Busan's cultural offerings and coastal attractions. By tying financial incentives directly to return visits, the organization aims to deepen visitor engagement and extend average stay lengths.
Busan Pay, the city's digital payment system, will serve as the redemption mechanism. Returning visitors enrolled in the program will accumulate credits applicable to dining, shopping, and cultural experiences throughout the metropolitan area. The approach creates what the tourism board frames as a mutually beneficial arrangement, rewarding customer loyalty while distributing tourism spending across hospitality sectors.
The promotion arrives as South Korean tourism authorities increasingly compete for share among affluent Asian travelers, particularly from markets where discretionary travel budgets have expanded. Busan's positioning around its film festival, contemporary art institutions, and beachfront developments has attracted growing numbers of culturally motivated visitors in recent years.
The program's design suggests the tourism organization views repeat visitation as both achievable and economically advantageous—positioning the city not as a single-visit destination but as one worth multiple returns across different seasons and for varied experiences.
